May Myat Mon Win is a passionate Hospitality and Tourism professional with more than 25 years of experience with a strong background in hospitality management and destination marketing and management.

May is also the General Manager of the 300-rooms Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, one of the finest leading 5-star hotels in the city of Yangon. The hotel is a luxurious property of Chatrium Hospitality, a Thailand-based group that owns and operates hotels, residences, re s o rt s , golf resorts and condominiums in Thailand, Myanmar, China and Japan, providing guests with the comfort and service they need to “Feel the Remarkable”.

May is also deeply committed and involved in promoting Sustainable Tourism Development in Myanmar. May was appointed as a member of Myanmar Tourism Executive Committee which was formed with both public and private sectors under Myanmar Tourism Law from September 2018 till January 2021. She served as the Chairperson of Myanmar Tourism Marketing Association (MTM) and Vice Chairman of Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) for 4 years since 2016. Currently May is supporting MTM as the Advisor. May has achieved
several milestones such as developing Myanmar Tourism Branding tagline “Myanmar Be Enchanted”, launching tourism branding campaigns, participating several international travel exhibitions, conducting international media briefings, publishing White Paper on “Restarting Myanmar Tourism and Building Back Better in the post-Covid era” in 2020. She also has participated and coordinated with Ministry of Hotels & Tourism on drafting the “Myanmar Tourism Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025” and “Enchanting Myanmar Health & Safety Protocols” in 2020. She was awarded as the Tourism Industry Figure of the Year 2019 by
Myanmore.com.

May was a visiting lecturer at the National Management Degree College for Hospitality Management Studies since 2015 until 2021. She also lectures Human Resources Management, Marketing Management and Service Management for SMEs in the country through NGOs under several grant programs. She is also a co-founder of the Professional Marketers Association (PMA), which supports the development of young marketers in Myanmar by organizing seminars and workshops on marketing, leadership, and service.

May is a Charter Member of Rotary Club of Central Yangon since 2017 and she is serving as Club Membership Chair for 2022-2023.

May is a life-long learner. She holds a B.A (Honours) degree in English Language and Literature from Yangon University in 1994. She has completed post-grad degree of MBA from the University of Economics, Myanmar in 2009. In 2014, she again has completed the General Manager Program (Cornell GMP) at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, United State. In 2018, She was invited to United States on IVLP (International Visitors Leadership Program) under Sustainable Development: Tourism and Economics Development and learned
tourism development in various states for 1 month.

May loves to participate in philanthropic and charity initiates which aim for long-term sustainable benefits for community and young generations, especially in the grassroot and rural areas. She also loves traveling and believes “To live is to travel.”. She loves listening to music, reading books, writing, watching movies, making new friends, learning new subjects, indulging in good coffee and good food.
